After-Hours Veterinary Emergencies

I once ran an emergency service from Suburban Animal Hospital in Arlington, VA before an emergency clinic was founded. The cost in doctor burnout, the waste in money and the duplication of effort between neighboring clinics resulted in the formation of a regional emergency clinic. After I was assured that my patients could obtain great care during the night; I discontinued my all-night service. I recognize the much greater cost of their emergency and daily treatment, and the imposition of transporting your pet to the emergency clinic, and the anxiety of using an unfamiliar doctor. To reduce cost and return to familiar surroundings, you have the option of returning your pet to Suburban Animal Hospital the next day.

I recommend the use of the Hope Center for Advanced Veterinary Medicine for after hours pet emergencies. I have been pleased with the service and care at the Hope Center and the ability of our doctor’s and their doctor’s to work as a team. An emergency center is designed to provide 24 hour medical care for stabilizing life threatening conditions. Our choice of an emergency center referral is based on the Hope Center’s quality of medicine, ease of access from Suburban and their recognition to refer back to the pet’s main health care provider. From Suburban Animal Hospital — Left onto Lee Highway – After crossing the bridge over route I-66 make an immediate left to the entrance ramp #69 entering I-66 west. Go west on I-66 cross under 495 until you reach exit #62. Take exit 62, Nutley Street, north (first exit to right) towards Vienna. At the 4th stoplight (Maple Avenue/Rt. 123) turn right. The Hope Center is the 3rd building on the right side.
