Heather Prochnow

Dr. Heather Prochnow is originally from Illinois, born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin for her undergraduate degree, followed by the University of Illinois for veterinary school. She practiced in central Illinois for three years before moving to Virginia a few years ago. Dr. Prochnow joined the Suburban Animal Hospital team in October 2018. Her veterinary interests include wound management and surgery, especially soft-tissue procedures and dentistry. She also enjoys preventative medicine and working closely with owners from puppy/kittenhood through their senior years and establishing bonds with both animals and their people alike.

Dr. Prochnow currently resides in Arlington with her boyfriend, dog (Jasmine, the SAH mascot), and cat (Monster). She has a passion for triathlon and has completed multiple Ironmans. She enjoys outdoor activities and loves exploring various DC attractions and restaurants – usually on two wheels!
